Amphora 2002 Jacob's Ridge / Dry Creek Valley Cab - Nice but...
I've been sitting on six 02 Amphora Cabs for a while now and figured I'd give one a try. After all, Amphora has had some good press as of late due to their entries in the 2006 SF Chronical Wine Competition. While lovers of black cherry and vanilla will enjoy this wine I found it to taste a bit too much like fresh coconut. We decanted and let the air hit it for about an hour. It was then that the black pepper started dominate. Enjoyable wine fruit foward wine but not one I'll remember without this posting to spark my memory. There are some wines that you drink and will forever remember the meal you were eating, clothes you were wearing, jokes you were hearing....this is a nice while but is not one of 'those' wines.
